In a feature article in Ocean Home Magazine, Jennifer Sperry describes how interior designer Megan Dufresne transformed a modern, three-story home in Southern California's exclusive Strand at Headlands enclave. The 7,000-square-foot residence, completed in 2015, is situated in a prime beachfront location. Dufresne was enlisted in 2021 to add warmth and color to the interior, phasing out traditional pieces and introducing contemporary elements. The main floor features a contemporary kitchen with white oak cabinets and leathered quartzite counters. The dining area is kept simple with Restoration Hardware chairs and a reclaimed oak table. The family room, inspired by a painting by artist Andrea Welton, follows a blue-and-green color scheme and is designed for kids and pets. A bar area with petrified wood mirrors opens to the formal living room facing west, with fade-resistant indoor-outdoor fabrics. The lower level includes a theater room with refined seating, a hidden kitchenette, and sculptural furnishings in the powder room. Dufresne successfully balanced the modern architecture with warm tones, creating a comfortable yet stylish space for the family.
